Coach’s report

  • Coach is hoping to implement a new weight training program in the fall before school 2 mornings a week; flyers were handed out. The period for Athletics may change so that V/JV is 1st block, and 9A&B are 2nd block. If this is approved, V/JV practice will start at 8am during season, and 9A&B will have a mandatory Saturday morning practice during season. Afternoon practices on Wednesday will remain.

  • Coach wants to involve the Vertical team and Community more in HS basketball. He hopes to involve the elementary schools in the Free Throw A Thon, and middle school teams in a few game nights. He also wants the HS players to participate in the 4th of July parade in NW Hills this summer.

  • Coach handed out copies of physicals which are needed for the UT Team camp. If you didn’t get yours, please have your player contact him directly.

Budget Update

  • Roslyn Breen discussed the current budget and then presented the proposed 2018-19 budget. A motion to approve the proposed 2018-19 budget was offered by Sean Breen, seconded by Jennifer Marlowe, and was unanimously approved.

New Business

  • Coach’s summer camp is July 16-19, and we will need volunteers to help. A camp for HS players is in the works for August to be run by the Urbanus brothers (who ran a camp at Anderson last year).

  • The Anderson Classic will be November 29-Dec. 1st. Teams are set: SA Holmes, Rockwall, Medina Valley, Kingwood, Dulles, Cy Falls, Westlake and Anderson.

Coaches report

  • If you are planning on signing out / taking home your freshman or JV players at away games, they should be signed out prior to Varsity starting their game. Going forward, parents can only sign out their player.

  • New scoreboard is up and running. Small gym scoreboard will be installed soon.

  • Sponsorship banners are ready, Cathy Painter will deliver them.

  • Administration request, requiring students not to turn their backs to any opponents.

Budget Update

  • Roslyn Breen discussed the budget and what is currently in our account. Signs, scoreboard, banquet, plus additional expenses still need to be paid. (Under on membership fundraising , under on player fundraising, over on sponsorship due to scoreboard)

  • Potential new expense resurfacing the gym floors – looking into Trojan Excellence Fund.

Upcoming Events

  • Faculty appreciation night – Feb 6th. Players will be inviting their teachers.

  • Senior Night – Lori Rowe will be organizing the event and flowers.

  • Banquet – March 22nd , 6:30 – 8:30pm; First Presbyterian Church (8001 Mesa)

Away Game Meals

  • Seeking alternative plans for next season.

Coach’s Report

Coach Pittsford has an updated schedule out with some minor changes. New schedules were handed out at the meeting. Planning to spend money on new equipment this season. There is a change in the sponsor signs starting Jan1. 3x2 banner will replace existing sponsor signs in the gym. New sponsors will get these signs with their sponsorship. Renewing sponsors will be able to renew sponsorship's with no additional cost for the new signs.

Budget Update

Roslyn Breen discussed the budget and what is currently in our account; the gain from last year will be spent on gym improvements this year. Budget for the current school year was reviewed. A motion to approve the budget was called for by Evan Rowe, Seconded by Deidra Harvego and the motion approved.

Corporate Sponsorship Update

Evan Rowe will track sponsor sales activity. Please update Evan with your pending and approved sponsorship sales. Make a note of the sponsorship signs already up around the school so we do not try to sign them up again. Try to frequent our sponsors and let them know that we’re with Anderson Basketball.

Presidents Update

Pamela Armour made the bylaws available.

New Business

We still need a volunteer to handle the senior player banners to be hung in the gym.

Outgoing President’s Report

  • Current Budget has a surplus.

  • Members elected new president, Pamela Armour, and new treasurer, Roslyn Breen

Coach's report:

  • Practice shirts and shooting tops will be purchased pursuant to Budget.

  • Summer Activities: Strength & Speed Camp. Skills Camp week of June 19th.

  • Open Gym M-Th. 2-6pm and Tues/Thurs 6-8pm.

  • Team Camps at UT and Tx A&M – for V and JV

New President’s Report

  • Summer Camp for youth July 17-20 needs Booster club volunteers and a leader.

  • Evan Rowe offered a motion to add line item to pay for AC in gym this summer; seconded by Ed Falcon; motion passed.

  • Update on FABPAC – hopeful that a new gym for Anderson will be in November bond.

  • Varsity Baseball playoffs this Friday, all invited to tailgate at 6pm at Nelson field.

  • All incoming Freshmen families need to join Yahoo group via website.

NOTES from May 2016 AHSBBC meeting:​

Volunteers needed:

  • Parent coaches for Williamson County summer league. Contact Coach Pittsford or Ray Newman (ray.newman@yahoo.com) if interested in coaching the following teams:

    • Varsity

    • JV Blue

    • JV Gold

  • one incoming freshman team (2nd is covered)

  • Trojan Spirit Fest in September – volunteers are needed to coordinate this year’s booth, including securing volunteers to staff it. Contact Holly Newman at hollysnewman@gmail.com

Summer 2016:

  • Williamson County Summer League play begins on June 6. Detailed schedules are forthcoming.

    • Rosters were distributed for Varsity and JV teams, and are attached to these notes. Rosters for incoming freshmen are pending.

  • Summer Camp will be June 20-23. A more detailed callout for volunteers will follow separately from Cindy Roberts. Signups will be coordinated in VolunteerSpot.

  • Open Gym will be on Mon-Thur from 2-6 pm for five weeks during the summer:

    • Weeks of June 6, 13, 20 and July 11, 18

    • Floor will be resurfaced June 27 week, and school is closed July 4 week.

  • We will NOT participate in the UT Team Camp this year due to schedule changes.

  • Two recommended summer camp programs were distributed to the yahoo group after the meeting - Danny Green and MGBasketball Camps.

2016-2017 Season schedule points:

  • Fall league for Varsity and JV at Pflugerville High starts on Wed, Sep 14

  • Practice starts Oct 26

  • Free Throw-a-Thon will be Sat, Oct 29

  • Anderson Classic 2016 will be Dec 1-3. The field of participating teams is set.

  • For holiday planning:

    • AISD is off the entire Thanksgiving week, but we will have practices on Monday and Saturday, and a game Tuesday. The players will be off Wed, Thu, Fri – more days than usual.

    • Christmas break:

      • There will be games on Dec 20 and Jan 6.

      • The only games during the Dec 21 – Jan 3 school break will be the Varsity tournament in Kingwood (metro Houston) on Dec 28-29. Team travelsDec 27.

      • Varsity players will have 6 days off – Dec 21-26.

      • Sub-varsity will also be off Dec 27-29.

2016 February

  • Tuesday, Feb 9: JV at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30

  • Wednesday, Feb 10: 9B at 5:30 and 9A at 7:00

At Westlake

  • Friday, Feb 12: JV at 6:00 and Varsity at 7:30

  • No 2nd JV game

Anderson Classic 2016:

  • We plan to host a tournament again, and will try to move the dates away from the Austin High tournament

  • The re-districting gives us more flexibility on opponents and scheduling next season

Budget:

  • We fell short of our sponsorship goal and our free throw a thon; thus our income was lower than expected.

Banquet:

  • Will be on Monday, March 28 at 6:30 at First Presbyterian Church

  • Pokejo’s will be served

  • Tickets projected to be in the range of $13-16; RSVPs will be required. Separate email/notice to follow.

  • We need players to help pull together clips for each team.

Programs still need to get distributed to sponsors. Please contact Michelle Dippel to get programs for your sponsors.

New website:

  • TrojanPride.net will be used going forward for schedules and rosters. This will be complementary to our existing Booster Club sponsored site. More details later.

Summer 2016:

  • Summer Camp will be June 20-23. Two separate sessions by grade/age.

  • We will participate in the Williamson County Summer League. Details expected in April.

  • We plan to participate in UT Varsity team camp. Dates TBD

Next meeting is targeted for mid-April or May

Player and Parent Expectations – Coach Pittsford (30-45 min.)

Reviewed Calendar

  • Changes will be communicated to the kids, and also Pamela will communicate.

  • Changed freshman study hall after practice this year.

  • Free Throw-a-Thon is this Saturday.

  • Will have Parent half-court shot contest from 12-1pm after the Free Throw-a-Thon.

  • Varsity practice this Saturday has changed to 1pm.

  • Football player tryouts are 11/7 and 11/9.

  • Page 3 has an updated schedule (do not use the package that was handed out the kids at the beginning of school year).

  • Coach emphasized on the Philosophy /expectations.

  • Coach emphasized the importance of attending all practices.
